November 2011

Happy fall everyone.  I love this time of year with the fall colors, the good foods and the cooler weather.

I am busy planning for the holidays and getting gifts ordered.  This year is going to be full of picture gifts.  Below is a recent picture I took.  I love the colors and perspective in this shot.  This will be in my calendar this year.

My 365 Project is getting harder.  I had one bad month with a lot of missed days.  I am back on track now and look forward to completing the year.

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving and are able to spend time with family and friends.

Until the next update.

March 2011

Spring is in the air, or at least it is in the south.

My 365 Project is coming along nicely.  It is challenging at times to make sure I get an image each day but that is why I started the project.  I continue to scout out new locations around work and I am trying not to have each day be pictures of my kids, that is too easy.

There are a few shows that I am considering entering.  Just not sure if I have the time and money right now.

I have updated my camera, I now shoot the Olympus E 30.  Same lenses and accessories.  Just a better camera and faster shooting speed to keep up with my daughter in softball.  Below is one of my favorite shots so far with the new camera.  I love the detail in her uniform even with 100% back lighting.  The flare on the helmet is wonderful.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Have a great spring.

February 2011

Happy New Year!  Sorry I am a little late.  A lot has been happening in the world and in my personal life to keep me busy.

Back in September I stated I would have some exciting news, I never got to post what it was, I won a Lensbaby contest.  It was Lensbaby in conjunction with Kubota Image Tools.  The winning image was the pier shot above in my banner.

The best part was that I won Lensbaby money.  I was able to buy some new optics which I have been really enjoying.

You might notice that I made a change to my galleries and now I will start posting a snapshot of my monthly 365 Project.  It has been fun and challenging at the same time.  It will be hard to keep up with for a full year but I am enjoying.

I hope to get better, at least once a month, updating my website with new information and pictures.

Happy Valentine's Day!

September 2010

Bring on the cool weather!

A few quick updates on a current show and one that has already past earlier this year.

Currently at the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, Metro Montage X Show is on exhibit.  The show ends September 12th.  If you have time stop by and see one of my photographs in the show.  I have been in this show in the past but this time it is not a prison picture.  One from my carnival series.

Earlier this year I won first place in the photography division of the National League of American Pen Women - Reflections Exhibition.  The show ran from Jan 9 - March 13th at the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art.  This was the second time I won in that show.

A very important announcement will come later this weekend.

Have a Safe and Happy Labor Day Weekend!

October 2009

My show just opened last night.  If you are in the Marietta area please stop by The Art Place on Sandy Plains Road and take a look around the gallery.  I have a series of images, eight total, from Eastern State Pen.  This is the first show when I was given so much space, it is nice but kind of scary at the same time.  If you are familiar with my images you may recognize some but I have some new prints as well to complete the series.  The show runs from Oct 1st - November 6th.  Below is the announcement.

After this show I have one more in the works.  One of my images was accepted into a show that will be up in January.  I will add more information about that show closer to the opening date.

I hope everyone is having a great start to fall.  This show has certainly started mine off on a good note.  I look forward to future trips to Barnsley Gardens and other outtings.

As always I have been doing my best to try and get into JPG magazine.  I am happy to report that I got one image selected into one of the photo challenges.  The category was Close Call, the image that I submitted was of our house damage that we had at the end of February, just after I last updated the website.

The winning image is above, this is our hall bathroom.  Title is Fresh Pine Scent.  In the photo collage my image is #4.  You can see the full page at:

The week ending July 4th my family joined other family members at the beach for a weeks vacation.  I have a lot of great pictures and memories from that week that I will share but I also received some great news when I returned to my home and internet connection.  I entered a contest at Zoo Atlanta.  The contest was to take a current picture of the giant panda Lun Lun and her daughter Mei Lan before they seperated them.  It had been months since I entered my photo and to my surprise when I returned home there was an email from the zoo saying that my image was one of the four winning photos.  I am very excited about this since they are making banners with the winning images.  Once they are up I will be at the zoo taking pictures of the banners.  Below is the image I entered that won.

Mei Lan was walking over to her Mom who was peacefully laying down.  Mei Lan decided to crawl over her Mom and then it looked like she stoped to nurse.  I have a series of images, this was just one that I thought was really cute and unusual to submit.

So far that is it.  Soon I will post images from my vacation.

Snow in Georgia.  It does not last long but it reminds me of home and makes everything look so pretty.

**This bench no longer exists.  It was taken out by the tree that fell into our house in February 2008.
